About
Keith Paradise is an award-winning writer with nearly two decades of experience whose works have appeared on the website Defector as well as in Billiards Digest and Explore PA magazines.
His article The Rise and Fall of Starter, the Coolest Company on Earth has earned considerable attention since its publication. This story, which was one of the most read stories of the year on Defector, also was featured on the long form journalism website The Sunday Long Reads shortly after its release.
He’s been a contributing writer for Billiards Digest since 2016 and a feature article that he wrote about professional pool player Chris Melling was listed as a piece of notable writing in the 2019 edition of The Best American Sports Writing produced by Glenn Stout.
Prior to writing for magazines, Paradise spent a decade as a newspaper reporter, beginning as a stringer at the Pittsburgh Tribune Review while finishing his degree at the University of Pittsburgh. While working as police reporter for the Chambersburg Public Opinion, a feature story package that he wrote on Megan’s Law and registered sex offenders living in Franklin County earned second place at the 2008 Keystone Press Awards.
Paradise currently resides in Harrisburg, Pa. In his spare time, he can usually be found with his own pool cue in his hands, although being surrounded by the game’s best players for a decade has done absolutely nothing to help his own game.
